I-376 Improvements Continue this Weekend in Pittsburgh
Westbound full closure necessary

Pittsburgh - PennDOT District 11 is announcing work to improve westbound I-376 (Parkway East/Central) between Grant Street (Exit 71A) and the Fort Pitt Bridge approaches in the City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, will occur this weekend, May 11-14 (weather permitting).
Crews will be conducting major work and numerous improvement activities including concrete patching, concrete approach slab replacements and latex concrete placement (resurfacing). To allow the work to occur, several closures will occur this weekend. Police will assist with traffic control at key intersections on the detour routes.
Significant delays should be expected and alternate routes considered.
The following restrictions will occur from 10 p.m. on Friday continuously through approximately 5 a.m. on Monday:
Westbound I-376 Closure
• All lanes of westbound I-376 will be fully closed between Grant Street (Exit 71A) and the Fort Pitt Bridge approaches. Posted detours:

To continue westbound on I-376 to Fort Pitt Bridge
o Westbound traffic on I-376 will be reduced to a single lane required to exit at the Grant Street off-ramp (Exit 71A)
o Make a left onto Fort Pitt Boulevard
o Take the Stanwix Street on-ramp to westbound I-376

To the Fort Duquesne Bridge (I-279/Route 65/North Shore)
o Exit at the Grant Street off-ramp (Exit 71A)
o Make a left onto Fort Pitt Boulevard
o Continue straight on Fort Pitt Boulevard to Commonwealth Place
o Access Fort Duquesne Boulevard on-ramp

Alternate route to Parkway North
o Exit westbound I-376 to Boulevard of the Allies (Exit 72B)
o Take ramp to northbound I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard)
o Cross Veterans Bridge
o Access ramps to northbound I-279

Grant Street On-Ramp to Westbound I-376
• The on-ramp from Grant Street to westbound I-376 will be closed. Posted detour:
o Make right onto Fort Pitt Boulevard
o Take the Stanwix Street on-ramp to westbound I-376

Eastbound I-376 Off-Ramp to Grant Street
• The eastbound I-376 off-ramp to Grant Street will be closed to allow smoother, quicker flow on the westbound I-376 detour. Posted detour:
o Traveling inbound (eastbound) on Fort Pitt Bridge, continue straight onto Liberty Avenue/Boulevard on the Allies Exit 70A
o Bear right onto Boulevard of the Allies
o Follow Boulevard of the Allies to Grant Street

Alternate if Exit 70A is missed
o Continue eastbound on I-376
o Exit at Forbes Avenue/Oakland (Exit 72A)
o Make right onto Craft Street
o Right onto Boulevard of the Allies
o Follow Boulevard of the Allies west
o Take on-ramp to northbound I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard)
o Exit left onto ramp to Seventh Avenue
o Access Grant Street from Seventh Avenue

Boulevard of the Allies On-Ramp to Westbound I-376
• The on-ramp from the Boulevard of the Allies to westbound I-376 to allow single lane transition on westbound I-376 approaching closure. Posted detour:
o Follow Boulevard of the Allies west
o Take on-ramp to northbound I-579 (Crosstown Boulevard)
o Exit left onto ramp to Seventh Avenue
o Make left onto Grant Street
o Make right onto Fort Pitt Boulevard
o Take the Stanwix Street on-ramp to westbound I-376

Smithfield Street Ramp to Grant Street
• The ramp from the Smithfield Street Bridge to Grant Street will be closed to allow smoother, quicker flow on the westbound I-376 detour. Posted detour:
o Continue straight on Smithfield Street
o Make right onto Boulevard of the Allies
o Access Grant Street

Motorists to use caution, slow down, and expect changing traffic patterns when traveling through the area.
The same westbound I-376 closure and ramp restrictions are tentatively planned for next weekend, May 18-21.
The $8.7 million project will improve various ramps on the Fort Pitt (I-376) and Fort Duquesne (I-279) bridges and the Parkway East/Central (I-376) from just south of the Fort Duquesne Bridge to just east of the I-376 Grant Street Interchange (Exit 71A). The project will also improve a bridge on Fort Duquesne Boulevard. Overall work will conclude this fall. The prime contractor is the Trumbull Corporation of Pittsburgh.
