Run Around the Square

Mark your calendars for this year’s Run Around the Square!
Saturday, August 27th, 2016

Athletes from as far away as San Luis Obispo, CA (1999) have come to Regent Square and participated in the neighborhood-favorite event, Run Around the Square, held on the 4th Saturday in August. The first section of the 5k (3.1 mile) race travels through the streets of Regent Square amid hearty, friendly cheers of encouragement from neighborhood residents. Athletes are then challenged by the cross-country trails of Frick Park. The race wraps up on Tranquil Trail and Fern Hollow where a festive award ceremony takes place.

The Run Around the Square also includes a 1.5 mile Fun Run/Walk as well as a post-race party in the Hollow of Frick Park. Sponsors of the event (including RSCA!), many from Regent Square itself, make the Run Around the Square possible. The Race Committee extends its appreciation to all of the sponsors for their generous support.

The Committee also appreciates the efforts of the Frick Park Maintenance Crew and the Frick Park Environmental Center (both divisions of the City of Pittsburgh’s Citiparks Department) for their help with the Run Around the Square. Their dedication makes the race a safe and enjoyable experience.
